From its natural beauty, with abundance of gifts bestowed to her, the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains, Mountain Elgon, with the largest volcanic caldera in the world, and immense Lake Victoria, Uganda is known to be a whole around travel destination to any tourist planning to travel, but if you are planning to go for a gorilla tour, then it is important to know the easiest trekking conditions.
The factuality is that mountain gorillas in Uganda can be tracked throughout the year and clients almost get the same satisfaction. The reason is clients tend to avoid rainy season forgetting that Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in an Equatorial Forest where chances of rain are very high daily.
Although it is a year-round activity, therefore the best time to visit Uganda for gorilla trekking is during its two dry seasons: between December and February, and between June and August, when conditions are particularly good for trekking to see mountain gorillas and chimpanzees. The above months experience less rainfall compared to months such as April, May and November.
Uganda mainly has two rainy seasons; the short season starts from October to November and the long rainy season starts from Mid-march to the end of May.
Uganda has a pleasant warm and tropical climate with insignificant seasons, making it good to visit year-round. There are wetter months that make certain plans and activities rather trickier which are worth into your planning. Temperatures barely change throughout the seasons, sitting around 24°C to 30°C, so you can visit Uganda all year round. The country is also fabulous for bird spotting at any time of year.
Trekking to see mountain gorillas and chimpanzees is a great experience regardless of the time of year. Our summer, between June and August, is a great time to travel to Uganda as the roads are in better condition and visibility is good for game viewing.
Visiting in low season is okay to many tourists since accommodation is cheap to encourage many tourists to travel even though it’s a rainy season. Visiting in this season also means that you will enjoy the jungle with relatively low crowds. It’s also said that February and September are good months for a safari vacation in Uganda since there are less tourists visiting and the lodges are not fully booked as such in the high season.
